All Club Members are eligible to get involved in this event. What is the exchange? Our club has been exchanging with the French Swimming Club from Serres-Castet (a small village in South West France) for 33 years. Swimmers who visited Haddington as teenagers are now parents who are hosting our swimmers in France! It’s a cultural as well as a sporting exchange and lifelong friendships have been made over the years. 36 of our swimmers had a fantastic time visiting France in 2015 so it’s our turn to host this summer. Approximately 40 French swimmers aged from 12 upwards will travel to Haddington and will need to stay with host families from our club. How does it work? The exchange runs on a 3 year cycle – we go to France one year, they come to Haddington the next year, then we all have one rest year off. Trips, swimming competitions and other events are organised when the French Swimmers are here. The French team travel with their adults on a French coach and attend most events this way. All Haddington swimmers and their families are welcome to join in with most of these events and trips; it’s a great way to get to know other club members. It doesn’t matter how old your swimmer is now - all club families are eligible to host - but swimmers would need to be at least 12 in 2018 to be in the team that goes to France.
