French Exchange

Haddington has been exchanging on a regular basis with the French Club Serres Castet since 1982 and for many swimmers these exchanges have been the highlight of their swimming lives.

The cycle runs over three years with a visit here, a return visit the next year followed by a year off. The swimmers (approx. 36 - 40, age 11/12 upwards) are home hosted and the accompanying adults stay together in rented accomodation.

Serres Castet is a small village in South West France close to the city of Pau. The club is a large summer club having considerable amounts of teaching and improvemer classes as well as competitive squads. Several times the club has won the competition for 'best summer club'.

The hospitality given to our swimmers and adults has always been most generous. Several of our swimmers have made strong friendships with their French counterparts and have spent time in France outwith club visits.
